Introducing Shona, a registered nurse with 30 years of experience in the healthcare field. Shona possesses a deep understanding of the complexity surrounding health challenges, encompassing aspects such as diagnosis, support, living arrangements, management, and prognoses. Her personal journey with disabilities spans 20 years, as she has been a devoted mother to special needs children and has supported them through their unique challenges.
Having been involved with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) since its initial rollout in Queensland, Shona brings firsthand experience in navigating this system. Even before the establishment of the NDIS, she actively participated in the disability services model, gaining valuable insights into the support landscape. Shona’s investment in this field extends beyond her professional involvement, as she has built an NDIS registered dwelling for her own daughter. This endeavor has given her a profound appreciation for the immense outlay, commitment, frustration, and complexity associated with such projects.
With her extensive background as a registered nurse, personal understanding of disabilities, and active engagement with the disability support system, Shona is dedicated to assisting individuals and families on their path to improved health, well-being, and a better quality of life.
Shona’s Role at Disability Housing
Shona holds the position of Business Relationship Manager (BRM) at Disability Housing Australia, where she plays a crucial role in managing all SDA (Specialist Disability Accommodation) application discussions with property owners. In her capacity as BRM, Shona actively communicates with property owners & SDA Providers, communicating updates on potential tenancy matches and addressing any questions or concerns they may have around what’s to be expected in the SDA market. Shona serves as the primary point of contact, ensuring that owners receive the necessary support and guidance throughout the tenancy matching process. With her expertise and dedication, Shona strives to facilitate successful outcomes and foster positive relationships between property owners and tenants within the disability housing sector.
