Shared Home in Capalaba
Mr A is a 32-year-old gentleman with a love of politics, history and old tv shows. He participated in Special Olympics basketball but has incurred a shoulder injury which forced him into retirement. He now enjoys Ten Pin Bowling with Special Olympics. Andrew enjoys watching neighbours and Bargain Hunt.
He works four days a week at an ADE and studies one day a week at TAFE and enjoys cooking and occasional Board Games. Mr A would like a flatmate who is interested in sharing outings with him on Saturday’s on the bus to Museums, Libraries, Festivals (Brisbane Street Art, Paniyiri, Shakespeare in the Park etc) and Movies or Friday or Saturday evening at the local Sports Club or a day trip to Coochie Mudlo Island.
It is important that a co-tenant is working towards independence – Learning to cook and clean and be studying or working each day. He must also have a supportive network that helps him through the transition of living in a new home, especially if he is moving out of home for the first time.
Mr A has 24/7 support which includes two flatmates that provide overnight support if he requires it. (He requires assistance in the event of seizures and shoulder dislocations) His flatmates are a 32-year-old male and 36-year-old female. They are both currently studying. The housemates share an STA with Mr A every 3 months.
Mr A’s mum stays at the house for a week, once a quarter when his medication is changed.
